About me.
My name is Martin Sullivan. I am almost
60 years old and still repairing sash windows.
As an aside, many year ago, and by way of a passion I discovered a strong interest in horse drawn carriages, so in
England I studied the craft of wheelwrighting. I became qualified in 2005 and ran my own workshop. I
am currently restoring a traditional building that it is, one day hoped will become small
museum dedicated to the craft.
My other 2 passions are playing classical piano and art.
.
Regarding the sash window I am self
taught, be it there was no facility to teach me. I studied carpentry but that was 'new build' not repair, so
all my tecquines are self discovered and passed to apprentices.
I have also taught in the Academy of Building Arts Charleston
USA, Produced numerous training videos and I am now trusted my the National Trust to be keyholder / custodian
of Victoria's oldest house, Mills Cottage in Port Fairy.
Training new apprentices is also 'in hand' so that the historic preservation of sliding sash windows can be
maintained. Currently there is a chronic shortage of people who can, actually do this specialised line of
work.

My recent work includes:
Mac Arthur Primary School
The Prespetory. Koroit.
Victoria Apartments.
St Johns Church. Port Fairy.
Captain Mills historic cottage Motts Cottage.
National Trust Museum. Millicent.
References spanning 30 years include:
